I've always related to Hermione's protectiveness over her books—and that was before I started collecting fancy special editions or pouring blood, sweat, and tears (mostly tears tbh) into making my own fanfiction binds. I can't imagine a scenario where she would highlight the pages of a book—the horror.
Those little page flags are fine since at least there's no commitment, but they just...don't look very classy, do they? Narcissa wouldn't be caught dead with 95 neon colored page flags sticking out all over her gilt-edged Jane Eyre and gods help me neither will I. Sometimes it's the little things, y'know?
